Most items were reasonably priced except the scallops. 16.50 for two scallops was somewhat unreasonable, but rest of the meal was fine. ”

We shared the special starters Clams and Cecina de Leon both fabulous. Then Arroz Nehra the black rice with fish and seafood that was unbelievably good. We also had the Presa Iberia which was also lovely. Marco helped us to choose an amazing bottle of red Paraje Martin. All in all made our weekend in Cambridge would definitely return !! ”

“ I went there for my birthday and the quality of the food was surprisingly good (I tend to be really cautious of eating at Spanish inspired restaurants). The meat was perfectly cooked, however the prawns were slightly overcooked which made peeling them harder than it should have been. ”

“ Being a Spanish woman living in England, I’ve always been a bit hesitant about visiting Spanish restaurants. I’m usually afraid they’ll fall short of the flavours I grew up with. But Mercado Central has genuinely changed my mind. The moment I tasted the gordal olives with that subtle kick of guindilla, I was transported straight back home. The smoked trout with dill had a flavour so close to what my mum used to make that for a moment I felt like a child again. And the octopus with those delicious potatoes? A wonderful homage to pulpo a la gallega, but elevated. My partner ordered the black rice, absolutely delicious. The hake in tempura was an unexpected but delightful twist, adding great texture. And the rib-eye steak, paired with piquillo peppers and mojo sauce, was cooked to perfection and genuinely outstanding. I can’t wait to return, the food is so good that it’s impossible not to recommend this place wholeheartedly. ”
